I spent years searching for a creative outlet for my own enjoyment. I first dove into music to satisfy this need. Twenty-Two years later and a couple college degrees, music became a second job for me, thus I continued my search.
About 10 years ago I had decided to give photography a try. I had always been curious about the process and had noticed how few African American landscape photographers I could find, especially with large format. As I got deeper into photography two things began to happen: The drive to diversify the genre in order to show others that may feel like outcast (something I continue to battle) that they too can be a landscape photographer. Second, share what I have learned that about photography that is commonly hidden behind pay walls or photo workshops that may not be affordable or obtainable to all.
My photos are simple. As cliche as it sound, I truly shoot for myself. I have gravitated towards a more realistic reproduction of that I see in the field. I make my photos with 4x5 and 6x6 film cameras as well as digital. For me, the most important part of my images is not how its made or edited, but to feel the same emotion I felt the moment I exposed it viewing it years later. My goal as this website begins to grow is to document my photo trips, provide knowledge regarding various topics, and to inspire others to find there way in the world of photography.
